Setup for .NET Core Frameworks

The following software is required:

• Windows 10 or higher
• Visual Studio 2022, version 17.4 or later
• MSDN documentation that comes with Visual Studio and is available on the web

A good minimal hardware profile for this course consists of a 2 GHz or better CPU, 4 GB of RAM and at least 10 GB of free disk space for tools installation and courseware.

The free Visual Studio Community 2022 can be used. Naturally, the Professional or Enterprise versions of Visual Studio could be used instead. All versions of Visual Studio can be downloaded and used for free for 30 days. After that the user is required to sign in to Visual Studio using a Microsoft account, such as hotmail, Live or MSDN. The Community version is then permanently available, and the paid versions are available for an additional 60 days.

Visual Studio Community 2022 has a large number of optional features. An install could easily consume 40GB of disk space or more! We recommend for this course to do a minimal install of just .NET desktop development. Leave the installation file on the computer, so that the student may install additional features if interested. .NET 7.0 is installed automatically.

The course software is furnished on one self-extracting file Install_NetCs_70.exe. This file is contained in 4012_Lab_70.zip. It will create a directory structure with root C:\OIC.
